Terms of Use
1. Unofficial companion app
The App is an unofficial companion for open-source WLED LED firmware. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or an official product of the WLED project maintainers. “WLED” refers to the open-source project at github.com/wled/WLED.
2. License to use
We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the App on Apple-branded devices you own or control, as permitted by the App Store Terms of Use. You may not copy, modify, distribute, sell, reverse engineer, or create derivative works of the App except to the extent allowed by applicable law.
3. What the App does
The App discovers and controls WLED devices on your local network using the WLED HTTP JSON API. You are responsible for:
- Owning or having permission to control the LED hardware you connect
- Configuring your network and Local Network permission
- Any settings you change on your WLED devices through the App
4. How control works
The App communicates between your Apple device and your WLED devices on the local network (or Demo Mode, which is simulated on-device). It does not provide a separate hosted cloud control service for your lights.
5. Acceptable use
You agree not to use the App to:
- Violate any law or third-party rights
- Attempt unauthorized access to devices or networks you do not control
- Interfere with others’ networks or equipment
- Misrepresent the App as the official WLED product
6. Third-party hardware & firmware
WLED devices and firmware are provided by third parties. We do not manufacture or warrant LED controllers, power supplies, or firmware behavior. Incorrect electrical setup can damage hardware or create safety risks — follow manufacturer and WLED documentation.
7. Disclaimer of warranties
THE APP IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE” WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. We do not warrant that the App will be uninterrupted, error-free, or compatible with every WLED build or network configuration.
8. Limitation of liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE ARE NOT LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF DATA, PROFITS, OR HARDWARE DAMAGE, ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE APP OR CONTROL OF LED DEVICES. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM RELATING TO THE APP SHALL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US FOR THE APP IN THE TWELVE (12) MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM (OR ZERO IF THE APP WAS FREE).
9. Apple-specific terms
These Terms are between you and us, not Apple. Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for the App. To the extent any warranty is not effectively disclaimed, Apple’s responsibility is limited as described in the App Store Terms of Use (including possible refund of the App purchase price). Apple is not responsible for addressing claims relating to the App or your possession/use of it, including product liability, legal/regulatory compliance, or consumer protection claims. Apple is a third-party beneficiary of these Terms and may enforce them against you.
10. Privacy
Your use of the App is also governed by our Privacy Policy.
11. Changes & termination
We may update these Terms by posting a revised version on this site and updating the “Last updated” date. We may stop offering the App or terminate your license if you breach these Terms. You may stop using the App at any time by deleting it.
12. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of your country of residence, except where mandatory local consumer laws apply. If any provision is unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain in effect.
