Privacy Policy

Applies to the WLED Controller app for iOS, iPadOS, and macOS (the “App”), provided by Your Name or Company (“we”, “us”).

1. Summary

The App controls WLED LED controllers on your local network. It does not include advertising or analytics SDKs, and does not upload your data to our servers (the App has no backend).

2. Data we process

On your device only

• Saved devices: name, IP/hostname, port, optional favorite flag — stored in on-device preferences so the App can reconnect.
• Optional settings PIN: used only when saving configuration to a device that requires a PIN. It is not written to persistent storage by the App.
• Demo Mode: simulated light state kept in local app memory/state for UI exploration and App Review.
• UI preferences: such as whether effect parameters are shown or hidden.

On your local network

• The App sends HTTP requests to the WLED devices you add (for example GET/POST /json, /json/state, /presets.json, /json/cfg, /json/fxdata).
• Bonjour/mDNS may discover _wled._tcp services after you grant Local Network permission.

3. What we do not collect

• No precise location for tracking (Local Network is not Location Services tracking)
• No contacts, photos, microphone, or camera access
• No advertising identifiers
• No third-party analytics or crash telemetry SDKs in the App as shipped

4. Permissions

• Local Network: required to discover and communicate with WLED devices on Wi‑Fi.

5. Children

The App is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information through the App, contact us and we will delete on-device guidance as applicable.

6. Third parties

WLED firmware and hardware are third-party products you own or operate. Features you enable on the device itself (for example MQTT or other cloud integrations in WLED settings) are outside this App’s control and subject to those services’ policies.

This website may load fonts from Google Fonts when you visit these pages in a browser. That request is made by your browser to Google and is not performed by the iOS App.

7. Data retention & deletion

Because data stays on your device, you can remove it by deleting saved devices in the App or by deleting the App. We do not maintain a cloud copy of your device list.

8. International users

The App processes data locally on your device and local network. We do not operate a service that transfers App usage data to our servers.

10. Changes

We may update this Privacy Policy when the App’s practices change. The “Last updated” date at the top will be revised. Continued use of the App after changes means you acknowledge the updated policy.
